Mhyia's first week home!

This past week has been, exciting, exhausting, fun, fulfilling.....it is absolutely amazing and so strange to FINALLY be home, it is still unbelievable at times.

Our first night home around 11:30pm lunch/dinner!

Mhyia is doing sooooo well.  The sleeping is getting better every night in fact Wednesday night she went to bed 9pm got up once to eat at 3am and then was back down and got up at 6am - our best night yet!!  In kunming she slept through the night so that is our goal but I think with the time change she is still hungry in the night (I know I am).  Eventually we would like to get her to bed by 8pm and hopefully sleep until about 7am??  We will see how that goes!

Playing in her new room!

There are so many things/changes that we have noticed in Mhyia that we are taking as good signs.
  • She is not waking and crying out as much through the night (in kunming she would sleep the night but would wake up many times through the night crying a little and then fall right back to sleep)
  • She is waking in the morning now and not screaming instantly, today she even played a little in her crib prior to getting up
  • She will respond when we call her name
  • She sits Very well other own where when we first got her we would put a pillow behind her
  • She LOVES to stand and hold your hands and is getting so much better at it
  • She will roll from her front to back but not back to front, she like slaying on her back and kicking - we don't think she had too much tummy time
  • She will react to things we say like "clap your hands" or "up" and know what we are saying
  • She is starting to fall asleep easier in places like her high chair, or the other day after her bath on the counter lol, she would not have done this before, she would have fought it like crazy so we are taking that as a sign she might be feeling a bit more comfortable
I used the Johnson's calming bedtime bath - guess it worked!

  • She has even started to play in her crib a little when she wakes up rather than screaming right away!
  • She loves her room and her crib (thank goodness) we have heard many horror stories
  • She loves to sit outside on the front porch with us - loves being outside
  • She really likes her excesaucer - she will play for longer and longer all the time!
  • She will play with others and have fun but will look for Mike and I throughout
  • When she is feeling tired or hungry she will not go to anyone else she only wants to be with us which is great!

loves her excesaucer!

loves to be outside!

really starting to like the stroller more as the week went on!

Mike and I have decided for at least the first couple of months we will be the only ones to feed, change, bath, comfort, put to bed, get up out of bed etc... We are allowing people to hold her and play with her and you can see she is already getting use to some people she has seen more. So far we are happy with what we have seen happening, we know some people don't let others hold them even for the first couple of months but for now we are happy with our decision and things seems to going well.

Mhyia started (June 19th) babbling "na na na" and we think there might we the odd "da da da" in there too.

She LOVES her bath
She LOVES swimming
She LOVES her swing at Grandma and Grandpa's
She gets VERY excited when we put Choo Choo Soul on the iPad, she claps when the kids clap etc...
She hates getting her face washed (very typical child lol)
She is getting a bit better with her carseat - doesn't enjoy being restrained
She is amazing (always has been) when we go out anywhere - she loves to look around at everything and everyone, she likes to be in the action!
Loves her swing!!

great spot for a little cat nap

Sporting her new Sperry Topsiders!  so freaking cute!

loves the water!

Mhyia and Grandpa! Thanks for putting up my swing Grandpa!

Mhyia and Grandma!

This past week we have had some visitors, we went and got her health card, we went to the mall one morning, we went swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's,  it has been busy but great.  We have been trying to do something every morning to help keep her up - one day early on we let her nap morning and afternoon too long and we paid for it during the night!  We are finding be up all morning and out and about in the sunlight has been great for her and us!

Giving Daddy her card!
Wearing her shirt Daddy bought!  Hilaroius but thank goodness she can't read yet!

Update:  Thursday night she went to bed at 8:30pm and slept until 4:30am, had a bottle and then back down until approx 6:45am

All in all it has been an amazing week - we are so blessed, Mhyia is such a great baby, we have read all the horror stories over the years and so far we have not had to experience any of them.  She was SOOOOOOO worth the wait!!!!

She is so beautiful. I'm so glad that things are going well for you. It took me 2 weeks to get rid of the jeg lag. Looking forward to more posts and pictures. Blessings, Debbie
