China Day 10 - June 9th

Well today is our last day in Kunming.  It is of course exciting to get back to Beijing and to be closer to coming home etc..but it is sad too.  This is the day we take Mhyia away from the city she was born in and all she has known so far in her short little life.  Everyone is sooooo nice in Kunming, the locals are so nice and so happy for Mhyia and us.  People stop and look at her all the time and the ladies are always touching her cheeks.  I was told by a friend that she was told while in China that people think the babies are very lucky to be adopted and going to their new homes and they think if they touch them they will have good luck too?

Bye bye Kunming!

One last Elephant ride at the hotel.
We had our breakfast and then met Norman in the lobby at 9am.  We got Mhyia's passport so she was allowed to travel to Beijing!!  It is the cutest little pic inside.

We headed to the airport for our flight. That was scheduled to depart at 11:40am.  We had to take another bus out to our plane waiting on the runway lol - it is so strange!

Mike found Oreos and some Coke!

Heading out to the plane.

We lucked out and had a empty seat beside us, mike was holing her while we took off and the gave us this weird little extension seat belt for her.  She was good for quite a while and even feel asleep but some turbulence woke her up about half way through her nap and you DO NOT wake her before she is done napping! lol. She got so upset and was crying like crazy, it is hard to console her when she wakes up like that.  It would be great if she took a soother but she wants no part of it.  We quickly mixed up another 2oz's and fed her and she quickly fell back to sleep.  God help us on a 13hr flight.

When we got to the airport Ray our guide was there to pick us up.  It was soooo hot and muggy - I think he said 40 with the humidex.  Mhyia was getting pretty cranky by the time we got to the hotel but once we were there we discovered she had pooped!!  Again!!  Usually I would not care about this stuff but now it is a very important part of our day lol!!

We fed her, played and I gave her a bath, which she loves and Mike went over to the store!  We ordered Pizza Hut to our room - AMAZING!!  After all that she was a bit out of sorts so we put her in the buggy and waked around the hotel.  She fell asleep for a little cat nap so we decided to sit in the lounge.  I sent some emails and Mike enjoyed a lass of wine.

Ahhhhhh so glad to be back in Beijing!!

As a little side note to this post today marks 3 years since we lost Kevin and it is still hard to believe he is gone, he would have been so excited to meet Mhyia and we miss him every day.  One thing that Mike and I noticed and think is kind of special is that our guide from the moment we met him he reminds us sooooo much of Kevin - his mannerisms, sense of humor, size etc.. it is kind of neat!!

Love the pic of you and Mhyia looking at each other in front of the plane. It's like she's saying, 'Okay Mommy. I trust you! It's you, me and Daddy now!'

Glad you're back in Beijing and settled in. We were at the airport to drop off Hannah's Nana and Papa this morning and I said to Hannah, 'Well be back in a few days to welcome home baby Mhyia!!' Looking forward to it although don't want to rush your time away either. I remember cherishing every moment of being in China and wanting to soak in as much as I could as I knew it would be a long time before we go back. Now it's fun to talk to Hannah and share stories of our time in China with her!
