Mhyia slept from about 9:30pm until 6:30am, she would wake up through the night with a little cry but instantly go right back to sleep. She did this about 5 or 6 times through the night. When she got up she got up crying and was hungry. Throughout the day we have started to realize that when she is hungry - she is hungry now!
It was a free day for us with no where to go or anything to do which is nice because it gives us the day to hang out as a family. We basically hung out in our room and after lunch decided to go for a little walk downtown. We put her in the carrier and she seemed to like that! I am not sure who likes it more Mhyia or Mike? lol.

We went down the main street and stopped at some of the little shops, it is a very interesting pretty little town. People stare at us CONSTANTLY - we have a little translation card that says we have adopted Mhyia etc.. and it come in very handy. People are very nice and always so happy for us when they see us. We stopped at a couple of stores and got her a couple of dresses as well as some Chinese DVDs. Mike's Chinese is getting very good!! Only small sentences or a few words but everyone says it is very good! He says he is going to go to Mandarin school with Mhyia!

After we got back to the hotel we sat outside for a while, there was a beautiful breeze and Mhyia had fallen asleep in the carrier. We then headed upstairs and made plans to meet David and Madeline for dinner. We went to a little local restaurant called Mama Fou's - we went to the pub side where I was able to get french fries! After we left there it was back to the hotel for bed.
The first night we put Mhyia in a short sleeve sleeper and we noticed she is always lifting her left arm reaching for something well tonight we put long sleeve jammie's on and we realized that she likes that because she licks her sleeve. The first day when she fell asleep with Mike he noticed she did this too. She licks it like a little cat - it must be a self soothing thing because Madeline's little guy does the same thing.
We fed her and layed her down in her crib and she fussed a little but we were right there. We turned on her little seahorse and she put her hand on it and when the music stopped she was out! She only ate a couple of ounces at bed so I expect she may wake through the night tonight.

What a sweet little love!! Mhyia is absolutely adorable!! How fun that you're already learning so much about her and how to meet her needs. Guess it's long sleeves at bed for your adorable little miss! You caught on much quicker than I did! It took me time to realize that Hannah's kicking at night was because she wanted her feet uncovered...but I kept covering them up. Oops!
I loved reading the sentence, 'it gives us the day to hang out as a family.' Ahhh...FAMILY! So, so happy for you!!!
My daughter is now 7 but when we got her, she was 16 months old. She was sucking on the pillow case at night. We had to get her a blanket with silk sewn around the edges. We called it her "Mankie" (She named it that because she couldn't say blankie). She carried it everywhere till she was around 5 yrs old. She used to suck on it, then twist it around to a clean, dry side, and suck some more..and on and on. A lot of babies from orphanages have that as a self soothing, Im thinking because they are not comforted and nursed in the middle of the nights as infants.

Do you find a lot of ladies wanting to touch Mhyia? I remember ladies coming over all the time wanting to touch Olivia. I finally found out that they wanted to touch Olivia because they believed she was so lucky to be adopted and that they wanted some of that luck too ad they figured by touching her they would get some luck.
I also remember getting heck from some of the grannies in China if they saw a bare leg...it was winter in Guangdong but with our spring like weather...too hot to bundle up.
Have fun experiencing the culture and exploring the sights!
