Mhyia did end up waking up last night but we fed her two more ounces, she ate it and back to bed she went. She got up around 6:15.
We got up and got ready, we had to meet Norman our guide at 9:00am because we were heading out for our Orphanage visit today. I was a little leary to take Mhyia there? I know she is so little but I wonder if going back to the same smells, sounds, nannies etc.. will bother her?
Mhyia got up with smiles once we peaked our head in the crib so that was great, we fed her and took her downstairs - she is quite the attraction when we are out, people are always talking to us (most of which we don't understand ). Mike has a card with the translation on it saying that we are from Canada and we have adopted her etc... everyone seems to be quite happy when they read it.
EVERYONE commented on how she needs to wear more clothes lol - apparently we need to cover her legs more - everyone thinks she is cold? She is always sweating and in the day it is like 28-30 degrees lol.
We got to the orphanage and were given a book on the orphanage and a breakdown of her schedule (that would have been nice to have sooner lol) not that she is totally following it anyways? Mhyia only drinks 2-4ozs at a time and they say she drank 6 or 7?

The orphanage was beautiful and very well taken care of - it was sooooo clean. We did see quite a few babies in there and it makes me think - are they being adopted out? And if not why not? So sad although like I said it is a very nice orphanage with a school and library and hospital etc..

After the tour we went to Walmart - OMG so many different things than back home lol. I had to take MANY pictures of this - I will post some below lol.

We have been waiting for her to poop - more info than most of you want but she hasn't pooped at all and the fact that we put her straight onto our formula worries us that it will constipate her? Well we have been giving her prunes etc... And finally this afternoon she pooped twice!!! It was alot of work for her and it was just a big hard ball. Clearly she is a bit constipated so we will keep up the prunes etc..
We decided to try to get pizza hut for dinner with David and Madeline. We went upstairs to their room and the kids played - their little guy is almost 1 and soooo active, Mhyia wasn't quite sure about his playing style lol.

The guys headed out, they were going to take a cab there and back. Well about 90 min later they still weren't back. The kids were getting fussy and ready for bed so I headed back up to our room with Mhyia. Mike ended up coming in about 5 min later with McDonalds lol - long story. Pizza Hut has been very hard for us to try to get. We asked the concierge and she didn't know what we were talking about, she thought we wanted our "pizza hot" and we kept saying no we want pizza hut lol.
All in all it was a great day, it was nice to see the orphanage and take lots of pics for Mhyia when she gets bigger.

That is so nice that you were able to visit the orphanage...it is always nice to know where they were for those first months. It certainly does look like a very nice and well kept.
Olivia and I were admiring the Walmart photos...quite the interesting things they put on their shelves. Olivia noticed Barbie right away...thankfully she isn't a quick reader yet...lol.
The constipation could also be from the formula change over...keep those prunes going and hopefully you'll see some improvement as she adjusts. That could also be the reason why she is eating less than what the orphanage put down on the card.
I think everyone needs one of those cab stories when they visit China...I know Grant does.

Our daughter was constipated too and still is a lot of the time after 5 months home. We found out that rice cereal is constipating so we switched her to oatmeal. apricots are good too, our friends found baby food apricots while in China.
We also visited our dd's orphanage back in April, 2006. and plan to again, with our second daughter. As for the babies still in the orphanages, I've always been a nay sayer about there being significantly less babies, and have often gotten ridiculed for saying so (on RQs pages). The slow down started when we adopted our first daughter, and we also saw many, many babies and children in the orphanages at that time. It's very difficult to believe these children are almost all SN, or being adopted domestically. Most likely, China needs to rid its country of SN children who will become SN adults if they stay in China...and they are raising the NSN children in the orphanages or foster care systems, which are still a part of the orphanages...so that these NSN "daughters of China" will grow up to be thankful contributors to their country, and most likely will feel a need to take on a husband to have a connection with a family because they grew up without any family bonds. And it is so culturally based to have a connection to family in China.
Glad you got to visit the orphanage. Most likely, if it was well maintained, your daughters orphanage is also run by Half The Sky, which donates money to the nannies as well as to each individual orphanage willing to participate. The orphanage our daughter was in, is the same one where HTS was started, and it was immaculate. More like a well maintained daycare center than what I had heard about orphanages being like, before.
Our DD got constipated as well. Ours was due to not continuing to feed her congee which is the staple in China for both children and adults. Our travel mates kept their daughter on the same foods as she was getting in the orphanage (mainly congee) and they did not have problems with constipation. Perhaps you can try a little congee, all restaurants have it. Although I also agree, it could be stress and changing formulas. Just a matter of time now, but things will happen for her. :-)
