Her name!

Her name.... Mhyia Kunya!

Mike and I decided very quickly after applying for the adoption that her name would be Mhyia and we are so in love with the way we have spelt it.  I posted about how we landed with this name etc.. here

When we received her referral we were told her name was Long Kun Ya (Chinese put the last name first).  Mike and I had already decided that whatever her Chinese name was that we would keep it as her middle name!  We loved Kun Ya!  We always pick girl names that end in an "a" so this was perfect!  We decided to spell it with the two together, when we received her translated documents we noticed that sometimes they spelt it as 2 words and sometimes as 1 so we put them together as one name.

I looked up the meanings of her names and they are as follows;

Kun = Universe or Earth

Ya = Elegant or Graceful

Long = Dragon

Year of the Rabbit!

2011 was the year of the rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. Mhyia was born on September 3rd, 2011. That makes her a rabbit. We learned from a friend who is in China that many Chinese plan their families around the zodiac and that the year of the rabbit is a particularly popular year for child-bearing. In fact there was apparently a mad dash last year to reproduce baby 'rabbits'.

Why? Children born under this sign are the happiest of all. They are friendly, outgoing and enjoy the company of others.

The Chinese Rabbit is one of the most stylish creatures of the Chinese Animal Signs and finds interest in different cultures. He is classy and sophisticated, and can be found adorning one of the latest fashion magazine cover looks. Rabbits also like artistic ventures, such as painting and music and are generally quite present in these worlds. They love top express themselves, which is evident when joining them at home for a function or a cup of coffee.

Metal rabbit - 2011

Metal gives Rabbits a more resilient demeanour than the other more quiet Rabbit. These Rabbits are very ambitious and can be quite crafty in their dealings with others. They throw themselves and their emotions into everything they do, making them intense lovers, but not outwardly affectionate lovers. Their determination can affect their work as well, whether through personal relationships with colleagues or with the work itself, a Rabbit can be known to immerse himself in his projects…business and personal.
Love it!! Sounds like she is going to fit in perfectly!! Can't wait to have our little bunny rabbit home!!

So Special!

Friday night we rec'd a call from Mikes sister asking what we were doing Saturday for dinner?  Thankfully we had nothing going on so we all decided to get MyThai and have dinner here at our house!  We all LOVE MyThai - we really can't get enough of it, it never disappoints and I think we could easily eat it every weekend!

Well when the door bell rang Saturday night, Mike and I ran up to answer it because of course not only Amy and her husband Chris were coming over our niece and nephew were coming too - and anyone who knows us knows how much we LOVE when they visit!!

When we opened the door we were not only greeted by all their smiling faces but also by these two little matching shirts that the kids had on!!  SOOOOOO cute and we just loved them!!

So thoughtful of Amy and Chris and it means so much that they would show their excitement and support for us and Mhyia in this way - of course I got a little chocked up LOL

So special, Thank You!
